Field Engineer

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Provides technical support to yards in production functions related to engineering. Acts as liaison between engineering project teams and production plant.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:

  • Works with project teams to provide technical support and assistance to yards in interpreting engineering drawings
  • Provides yards and Engineering with sketches as needed. Provides feedback on design to Engineering Design team
  • Works with yard and Engineering to support regulatory and class issues
  • Coordinates with EAR, changes, PRN’s and revisions through the Project Engineer
  • Coordinates as-builts
  • Provides and coordinates yard engineering support and assists Test & Trials with technical issues as necessary
  • Accomplishes tasks and assignments proficiently and with minimal supervision

DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of shipbuilding, engineering and production functions and processes. Strong technical skills and proficiency in use of Auto Cad and Microsoft Office software. Good communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Must work well in a team environment.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
Bachelor of Science degree in technical field or equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
